There is a significant biological difference between the food allergies and food intolerance. However, both are very serious conditions. Some individuals can out grow either condition but abstenence is the the only cure.
Our son has both! Big difference…allergies are a reaction of the immune system and intolerances, as inconvenient that they are, have physical responses that do not come from our immune system. Our son has had anaphylaxis reaction to a food before which is so serious and was once so intolerant to foods that all he could eat was chicken, peas and rice. This caused a physical reaction called eczema where his skin was covered with itchy miserable read patches. Not even his allergist could figure it out but thankfully once we gave him his Belly Boost probiotic, he was so much better. He began eating more foods and his skin cleared up so much. We do still avoid the serious allergens though and carry an EpiPen. Hope this helps!
