Question by Derp: Is there anything I can do to prevent my child from having food allergies?
My husband has Celiac Disease, and has a secondary allergy to millet. I can’t have dairy or soy without breaking out in acne – I really do not want our child to have the same issues as we do, is there any way to prevent food allergies?

Do not feed them food such as nuts and strawberries (most of those really nice fruits, inc rasberries too), untill around age 2-3.
This is meant to reduce allergies.
Also, do not overclean your house!
If it is bacteria free, then they will have no immune system.
So if they are playing in the mud etc, don’t worry!

The first answer is in line with latest medical thinking.
It is thought that since there is now so much emphasis on everything being 99% bacteria-free, that the immune systems of children are not developing and they are becoming prone to food allergies and asthma as a result.
As your Gt. granny would have said “We all need to eat at least a pound of dirt before we die”
Nursing is supposed to help reduce the incidence of allergies. Unfortunately, allergies are hereditary and there is no certain way to prevent them.
