I just deleted my Rant that; ;
YOU can not prove their claim except by their record keeping

Love it!
Try to always buy organic and local produce.
When that is not possible, I go for the conventionally grown stuff.
I do it not so much because it is better for the environment, but because I know it better for my family and me.
I find it fresher, more flavorful and not always more expensive.
Farmers markets are great sources.
I have a friend who owns an organic lettuce farm and she tells me that if we all knew what the conventionally grown stuff has in it and on it and how long it is in transport before we actually get it to our tables, we might reconsider our outlook about its value, so yes, I do think the "regular' stuff is probably not that good for us.
Since I believe you are what you eat and that our health is directly connected to how healthy our gut is, organic makes all the sense.

I will spend the money on organic and natural meat and poultry, I truly believe that it tastes better. Plus, I prefer for my meat not to be injected with all sorts of antibiotics and growth hormones. Just give me meat from a normal cow that was allowed to roam about and chew on grass, not one that was corralled and pumped full of drugs to keep it from getting diseased in some factory farm.

With produce though, I am not as picky because I figure that as long as I wash it really well I can clean off the pesticides and yucky wax that they put on fruits and veg to make it "look pretty." I do use an all natural vegetable cleaner though (citrus based).

Ambivalent.

Most conventionally grown fruits and vegetables have no more contaminants then organically grown produce. Just because you didn't use artificial pesticides does not mean the produce is not exposured to pollutants in the air, water, and soil. Even the animal manure used in organic produce can be dangerous if not heat treated.
And very few growers are actually inspected in any given year.

Even the term 'organic' is not what most people thinks it means. In the US, a grower of any produce can use the label 'organic' if they startout using so-call organic materials and methods, but if for some reason the components are not readily available, they can switch to conventional means and keep the label of 'organic'.

I'm not an advocate for indiscriminant use of pesticide or fertilizers, nor am I a convert to totally organic farming. Without some use of pesticides and fertilizers, we would be at the mercy of famines due to blights, plant diseases, and insect infestations. But I also believe that there has to be a counterbalance or middle ground.

I think it is more important for the common good to eat "locally" rather than "organically". Organic food is fine, but not if it takes tons of fossil fuels, pollution, energy and additional resources just to get it to me. Eating locally supports local farms and business and getting the food to market takes a lot less energy to get it to me.

I wouldn't pay more for organic food. I don't see anything wrong with regular produce and there is nothing saying that regular produce had effected anyone's health negatively. I'd rather save my money and buy the cheaper stuff :)

Organic foods are nutritionally the same as it's traditionally grown counterparts. I say if you can afford it and are against the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers then go for it! Bear in mind that organically grown foods use natural fertilizers such as manure, so you run the risk of e-coli. I see nothing wrong with using either one, but my pocketbook prefers traditionally grown.

well.. i think if anyones passionate about they´re enviroment and wants to make it greener, and also make it a better place for your grandchildren, you should pay extra for organic, coz its not just fresher but i personally think it tastes better... i work in an organic cafe that was the first in britain, and im proud my boss was the first to do it. so yeah i think its a good choice.
Not just this but i live in the counryside and at my home were very environmental friendly and have compost heeps, chickens because the thought of battery hens is awful and finally, we grow our own produce - fruit and veg.

I think it's not as healthy to eat the regular stuff, but i'm also poor, so I'm not willing to spend a ton more on organic food. Besides, I don't believe some of the stuff advertised as organic is truely organic.
