Has anyone ever made their own organic baby food?

My baby will be 6 months soon. I am breastfeeding, so I am going to wait till then. I really want to make my own organic food. I have bought some books already, but haven’t received them. I wanted to see if anyone had some advice or tips for making their own purees.

It has been 17 years, but my wife used to get fresh fruit and vegetables. Just steam some carrots, throw them in a blender and then poor into ice cube trays. Once they are frozen you can put the cubes into a freezer bag. Repeat with peaches, plums, green beans, etc.

My daughter always ate what we ate, as long as it wasn’t spicy, or high in salt or other spices.
I just bought a babyfood mill, and ground up whatever, veggies, chicken, fruit, macaroni …whatever. She loved it !!!

I made all of my kids baby food. It is great. What I did was to prepare the same veggies as the rest of the family and remove the portion that I am making for the baby. DO NOT add sugars and salt at all. Invest in a good food processor, its gonna be your best friend.

I made and will make all my own organic baby food for my bubs.
I found it really simple with my son and so will do it again.
My son loved roasted red peppers, avocado, banana, pea, carrot, sweet potato, butternut squash, potato, swede, parsnip, pumpkin, apple, pear and papaya.
The banana and papaya do not need cooking provided they are ripe. They can be pureed or mashed on their own or together (avocado and banana, pea and carrot, carrot and swede etc) with a little breast or formula milk. Bananas are not suitable for freezing.
I made loads up at once and then froze all of my purees/mashed foods into rubber ice-cube trays. I took the right amount out as required.
They can stay in the freezer for up to 8 weeks.
Once the my son was older we used a mill and our son ate what we ate. We don’t use salt in any of our cooking.
I found the Annabel Karmel Baby and Toddler Meal Planner really useful.

    Hope I helped. x
