Question by Becky D: Can anybody give me information on food allergies?
I don’t have any allergies, but I was wondering what happens with food alergies and such, since I don’t really know anything, but my sister has a friend whose two younger siblings both have alot of allergeis.
What happens if somone eats peanut if their alergy is mild? Moderate? Severe? Very severe?
Does everybody have similar symptoms, or does it vary from person to person?
To all food allergies act similar, or do eggs usualy present different symptoms than nuts, or shellfish or fruit?
How does an epi-pen work, and in what situations do you need one?
And lets say that, hypotheticaly, a person with has an allergic reaction on a camping trip, and they use the epi-pen, but can’t get to a hospital? Will the epi pen wear off or somthing, or will the person be okay, depending on the allergy?
Thanks.

Best answer:

Answer by MsM
If you are allergic to Peanut or any other nut/seeds it can be severe, even deadly, when someone is really allergic to any food is always severe. I don’t know about epi-pen don’t have any information about that.

Question by jrunaas: What kind of candy for someone with multiple food allergies – chocolate, nuts and corn (syrup)?
I’m trying to put together a goodie bag for a neighbor child that has food allergies to chocolate, nuts and corn – so no corn syrup. Any ideas – hard to be psyched for Halloween when he can’t eat most of the candy out there. I know I could do other things – like playdoh or pretzels, but when you think Halloween you think candy.

Best answer:

Answer by TX2step
How about carob or yogurt covered raisins? I know you can find baggies of those at the grocery store. And you could try the bigger bags of dried Apple Chips (caramel apple, granny smith & red delicious), but I haven’t checked the label on those for corn syrup:) … Maybe you could melt butterscotch chips and dip some dried fruit into them and let them cool/harden. …..A health food store might have things that would just perfect too. … And, if it’s a girl, you can always put in some flavored lip balm:)

Did you know that common food allergies were very uncommon before 1930s? Bowel toxins were unheard of. Food is considered to be outside the body while still in the gastrointestinal tract. The small intestines maintained its functions of keeping out harmful substances and allowing essential nutrients into the body. The human body immune system was very strong that it fought off many of the complications that are there today. What then led to the breakdown of this strong natural defense mechanism that has led to many prevalent conditions today?

Technological advancement! Technology advanced and more and more human systems became artificial and automated. This led to production of new drugs and new systems of refining foods during food production. Non- Steroidal Anti-inflammatory drugs and antibiotic use escalated in the 1930s. They were heavily prescribed not knowing that they were lethal to the small intestine’s mucosa lining. Their increased use led to leaky gut syndrome and in turn led to some of the leaky gut allergies.

These drugs caused the epithelial surface to be affected which led to increased permeability in the small intestine walls. Toxins, pathogens and undigested foods flood the blood stream and resultantly overburden the liver. The immune system automatically tags all these substances and other good ones such as beneficial bacteria as harmful. This results in inflammation of the veleal lining and cells as an allergic reaction.

Seldom are there real allergies to meat, rice, millet, vegetables, or fruit. An allergy to garlic, though, is not uncommon. It is important to differentiate between a real allergy that which causes a histamine inflammatory reaction at the site of the small intestine epithelia from sensitivity, which may cause uncomfortable symptoms, but unlikely to cause damage. Sensitivities are usually due to low stomach acid or pancreatic enzyme secretion.

Leaky gut allergies may be major setback in the healing process of leaky gut. For example, one may restrict wheat, dairy and eggs, but then compromises the treatment by taking garlic tablets.

leaky gut syndrome is a common condition which affects millions of people, worldwide. Even though it is so common, this does not make the pain any easier to deal with. Anxiety, fatigue, intestinal pain are just some of the symptoms sufferers have to contend with on a daily basis. Trying to lead a normal life and minimize the symptoms seems like quite a tall order. Sufferers sometimes feel like they are juggling too many balls all at once and can feel overwhelmed at times. There are a number of ways to take back the control over your life and understanding food allergies is one way to do just that.

Food allergies

Your intestines play an important role when keeping valuable nutrition and discarding waste by products. When your intestines are inflamed they no longer act as an effective filter, which means it allows the waste by product to leak through into your body with the nutrients. Your body’s immune system then goes on high alert and attacks the foreign bodies. Nutrition and waste by product are then continually attacked, creating food allergies. Consider the fact that we eat quite a number of times, each day. Now, consider how many times your immune system will go on high alert and focus on attacking your meals. If this is happening multiple times in a day then your body is left vulnerable should any real foreign bodies invade. This means, your immune system leaves you at risk of contracting other illnesses easier than before. Getting tested for any common food allergies and watching what you are eating based on that new knowledge should help to alleviate the immune system attacks. Your body constantly changes over the years with regards to what you can and cannot eat. Book regular allergy tests, preferably yearly to ensure you keep on top of healthy living.
