Is Multiple Chemical Sensitivity real?
Question by JOHN P: Is Multiple Chemical Sensitivity real?
Some say that MCS – ‘Multiple Chemical Sensitivity’ is not a real medical condition. Is that so? A Yahoo search has left me unsure. What is the truth?

Its real to the people that claim to have it. Since a mechanism for the condition has not been identified, there is not enough information to determine whether its real or imagined. Not even enough information to do a scientific study. Given the consistency in the symptoms and types of chemicals that seem to cause the problem, it seems like there’s probably something real going on, but who knows? There’s nothing to lose by avoiding potentially toxic chemicals in the environment even if there is nothing to this condition.

MCS is a real medical condition!
I have been involved with MCS patients for years now and can tell you it’s no joke it’s something similar to Gulf war Syndrome.
MOSTLY MCS will happen when you have been exposed to toxic chemicals or after a toxic mold exposure or sick building syndrome condition.
An example of MCS would be a person who has SBS (sick building syndrome) due to toxic mold, the person will smell mold and have a break down of the immune system which can lead to headache, shock, fatigue, etc etc all because of the smell of mold, this can also be the same situation with someone who has been exposed to toxic chemicals and smells chemicals and gets the symptoms.
It is said that 30% of MCS patients can not leave there home with out falling ill due to some sort of chemical they come into contact with in the environment.
MCS is very hard to treat and there is no cure for it yet.
