I went once per week for five years, then for a couple of years I went twice a month and finally, once per month for a couple of years. I got three shots every time I went. It has helped me tremendously. Allergy shots are effective on adults. I had allergy shots too. I have had very bad allergies for several years and have taken every drug on the market, nothing worked, so I started allergy shot therapy as a last resort. it hasn't even been 6 mo yet and I can already tell a huge difference! i think they are wonderful and yes you do have to start off with a shot once a week, as time goes on you have to go less and less. keep in mind it may take 3-4 yrs to complete therapy, but the results can last for 20+ yrs. the only instance that shots MAY make your allergies worse are in the case of mold. there are many types of mold and some studies that show there is a possibility that with certain types allergies worsened, however because of this many allergists will not use these types of mold in there therapy. i would stick with the shots i am currently going for allergy shots.
